Sebastian Mendes, a thirdgrade student at Yerba Buena Elementary School in Agoura Hills, has captured the Western Surfing Association’s Micro Grom under-9 shortboarding championship for the 2010-11 season. Competing in 10 events throughout Southern California since August, Sebastian finished with 14,550 total points.
