HUNTER—Manju Venkat, a biologist who lives in Oak Park, took this photo of a juvenile green heron that he spotted one morning at the Oak Park Community Park duck pond. “These small herons crouch patiently to surprise fish with a snatch of their dagger-like bill,” he said. Venkat says he’s documented at least 50 bird species at the pond.
