Youth auditions for ‘Charlotte’s Web’


Young Artists Ensemble will hold auditions for “Charlotte’s Web” Sat. and Sun., March 3 and 4 by appointment only at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

Time slots begin at 9:45 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

The play is directed by Laura Mason. The assistant director is Peyton Pugh.

Auditions are open to actors ages 10 to 19 as of May 20.

Actors should prepare a one-minute monologue or poem and wear comfortable clothes for movement.

Each audition will last two hours and may include improvisation, cold reading and movement. Callbacks will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Mon., March 5.

Performances are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays May 4 to 20.

Rehearsals are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

All cast members and parents must attend a mandatory welcome meeting from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thurs., March 8.

Actors in the cast pay a participation fee of $180. Financial assistance is available.

“Charlotte’s Web” is the story of a little girl who is given a piglet, which she names Wilbur, to raise as a pet, and how Charlotte, a smart spider, becomes his savior and his most loyal friend.
