U.S. service options

I read with interest and then growing concern the front page article by Stephanie Bertholdo and then the anti-military cartoon on page 4 of your Aug. 19 edition.
In combination, the message received is that The Acorn is opposed to the armed forces and therefore opposed to a strong defense. It seems reasonable in a voluntary environment that our young people are made aware of the opportunities in the armed forces. To do otherwise would appear to instead favor a draft.
