Writers’ program set for March 5





UCLA Extension will host a free open house in "Journalism, Public Relations and Fundraising Programs" from 10 a.m. to noon Sat., March 5 in Room 147 Dodd Hall on the UCLA campus in Westwood.


Prospective and current students can meet and network with leading professionals in these fields, get practical career information, receive individual counseling on courses and certificate programs, sign up for most spring quarter courses at a discount, and enter a drawing for a free course.


A formal program will begin at 10 a.m. followed by informal discussion and an opportunity to network. Parking on campus is $7.

UCLA Extension’s Writers’ Program will also be hosting a free open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., March 5 in the Young Hall Courtyard on the UCLA campus.


Prospective students can meet the professional writers who teach Writers’ Program workshops and hear from former students about their produced and published successes.


Participants may plan their course of study with advisers, register for spring courses at a 10 percent discount and enter a drawing to win a free course.

The public is invited to join novelists Leslie Schwartz ("Angel’s Crest," "Jumping the Green") and Noel Alumit ("Letters to Montgomery Clift") and fiction writer and essayist Mary Otis for a free evening of creativity and craft from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fri., March 18 at Skylight Books, 1818 N. Vermont Ave., Los Feliz.


Featured instructors of UCLA Extension Writers’ Program courses at Occidental College this spring, these three writers will share their expertise and tips and explain how to get started as a writer.
