Women excel in making Easter baskets




 

 

The Westlake Village Republican Women’s Federation built more than 100 children’s Easter baskets for the Hope Gardens Family Center in Los Angeles earlier this month The baskets were delivered to children on April 2.

Hope Gardens Family Center in Sylmar provides transitional housing and shelter to single women and children who are homeless. Permanent supportive housing is offered for senior women in the Sequoia Lodge.

Hope Gardens helps women transition from homelessness to independence within 12 to 36 months through longterm rehabilitation programs, services and spiritual care.

Single mothers receive services such as onsite therapy, life skills education, financial and job training, educational and social support, child care, daily meals, access to medical and dental care and transportation.

Every year the WVRWF puts together over 100 Easter baskets for the children in the family program at Hope

Gardens. The program helps single mothers recover from past trauma while planning for the future.

The WVRWF was founded in 2001. The active and associate membership is over 130 women from both Ventura and Los Angeles counties.

In addition to providing financial support to local groups the WVRWF also offers volunteer services for various events.
