Westlake Women’s Club awards scholarships to deserving seniors





The scholarship committee of the Westlake Women’s Club, headed by Marge Ceran of Westlake Village, recently announced that it awarded $4,700 in scholarships to graduating seniors during ceremonies at local high schools.


Chosen out of all seven schools this year as the recipient of the commemorative $1,200 Karen Rufener Scholarship was Elycia Mulholland of Westlake High School, who ranked first in a graduating class of more than 400 seniors and has been active in community and school service.


Additional scholarships have been awarded to the following outstanding senior students:


Grace Ko (Agoura High School), Melissa Stabb (Oak Park High School), Monica Garty (Newbury Park High School), Christa Hunt (Thousand Oaks High School), Heather Scott (Westlake High School), Elmilger Romero (Conejo Valley), and Tanya Engle (Indian Hills).


An additional grant to be made through the Cal Lutheran Women’s Resource Center will be announced this year. It will be presented to a young woman who wishes to return to the academic world after an interruption of her education.
