Westlake Village’s Library contract up for renewal

Westlake Village’s contract with L.A. County Public Libraries is up for renewal. The city is now building a new library. One of the 18 goals during a recent Westlake Village City Council meeting last week was to develop a workable and satisfactory contract for future library services.

L.A. County has run the Westlake Village library since 1993, and as long as both parties agree, according to Westlake Village City Councilwoman Betty de Santis, the contract will be renewed.

While the city will maintain the building, the county will operate and staff the library.

Contract negotiations, de Santis said, are taking longer than expected.

No date has been set regarding an agreement.
