The city of Westlake Village and the Westlake Village Library are co-sponsoring Westlake Village Reads, a One City One Book program.

All city residents may participate in the program by reading the book and attending as many of the free special events as desired.

The book is “The Soloist: a Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship and the Redemptive Power of Music” by L.A.

Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library, 31220 Oak Crest Drive.

The reading program will kick off at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 4 at the city’s last TGIF event at the Westlake Village Civic Center courtyard, next to the library. Two musicians from the New West Symphony will perform music inspired by the book.

The program will continue through September and October with a variety of activities centered around the book.

Westlake Village Reads will conclude at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 with An Afternoon with Steve Lopez at the Fred Kavli Theatre, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

Free tickets for this event will be available at the library starting Sept. 29.
