The Rotary Club of Westlake Village (noon) will host its annual clothes shopping spree at JCPenney Co. in The Oaks mall for children from Interface’s Children’s Resource Program. The event will take place from 7 to 10:30 a.m., before the store’s regular hours.

Each child, accompanied by a Rotarian and a list of needed items, will be allowed to purchase $100 in clothing. JCPenney’s will then give a 25 percent discount on all items to increase the clothing items that each child can select.

McDonald’s will provide breakfast for all the children before the shopping spree.

Jamie Taylor-Werner, Rotary chairperson, said the Rotary Club of Westlake Village has been organizing and sponsoring this event for nearly 20 years. "Yet every year it feels more rewarding to see the smiles and excitement of these wonderful children as they pick out their new clothes. I don’t know who enjoys it more, the kids of the Rotarians."

The Interface Children’s Resource Program was established in 1984 to address serious deficiencies in the availability of medical, dental, optometric, mental health and other services for impoverished at-risk children in Ventura County. This is accomplished through working with more than 300 medical professionals who donate their services. Since 1984, more than 9,764 vulnerable children who would otherwise have been denied treatment have received care.
