Westlake HOA dispute grows

The Westlake Ranch Property Owners Association and the Euclid Management Co. have let down the citizens of Westlake Village.

Several months ago, a large group of civic-minded citizens gathered to discuss security concerns in our North Ranch neighborhoods. We asked for assistance from the fine Thousand Oaks Police Department and we promptly got it. We asked the Westlake Ranch Property Owners Association and the Euclid Management Co. to reinstitute a private patrol service that they unilaterally canceled some months earlier, to sponsor periodic community meetings with law enforcement and safety professionals so we can all become better informed about security and safety, and to publish a quarterly newsletter addressing community issues that impact each and every one of us.

Simple requests. Reasonable requests.

Unfortunately for the 500 members of the Westlake Ranch Property Owners Association, we got none of this. Instead, we merely received bureaucratic excuses and delays. The HOA board of directors vacillated for many months then merely proposed a large increase in dues to pay for a new guard patrol service. This proposal was poorly conceived and poorly executed. It was guaranteed to fail and it did. And the HOA board has chosen to ignore our requests for periodic community meetings and a newsletter.

Too bad. We deserve better. Scott Nelson Westlake Village
