Wellness Community announces programs

Cancer support groups, classes start soon



The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura group will present the following programs.

•A new support group for young adults with cancer will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wed., Feb. 4 through March 25 at the San Fernando Valley satellite, 19725 Sherman Way, Winnetka.

This eightweek psychoeducational group is for persons ages 18 to 30 who are currently receiving treatment for cancer or who are cancer survivors.

Jodi McIntosh, associate program director and licensed marriage and family therapist, will co-facilitate the group along with Colin Goodwin, a graduate student in clinical psychology at California Lutheran University. Both facilitators are cancer survivors.

•Breast Cancer Connection: An evening with Omid Shaye, MD will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 19.

This i s an educational seminar about the latest scientific thinking on diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

Shaye is a graduate of USC Keck School of Medicine and has a private practice in West Hills.

•Clean, Green, and Environmentally Beautiful with Sharon Norling, MD is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 26.

Norling will present information on how to choose safe and effective skin care, cosmetics, and household cleaning products.

Norling is the only U.S. physician known to be nationally board-certified in OB/ GYN, Integrative Holistic Medicine, and Medical Acupuncture. She is the founder of the Mind Body Spirit Center in Westlake Village.
