Warrior football program celebrates Marmonte title, Benkert’s 200th win




A NIGHT TO REMEMBER— Westlake High head football coach Jim Benkert, above right, addresses his team following last week’s 35- 14 Warrior victory over St. Bonaventure at Moorpark College. With the win, Westlake completed a 10-0 regular season and captured the Marmonte League crown. It was the Warriors’ 13th league title in program history—12 in the Marmonte and one in the Frontier League—and marked the 200th career victory for Benkert, whose overall record stands at 200-74-5. Benkert has more wins than any varsity football coach in Ventura County history.
