Volunteers needed for Dole Great Race

Adult and student volunteers are needed for the 29th annual Dole Great Race of Agoura Hills.

According to volunteer coordinator Jodi Regan, students who volunteer at the race will be rewarded with community service hours at their schools.

“We’re in need of responsible and enthusiastic volunteers,” Regan said. “This major fundraiser for Agoura Hills and Oak Park schools . . . is the perfect opportunity to get involved in a fun, communitywide event. You can volunteer as a group, with a friend or as an individual.”

Regan said student volunteers must be at least 14 years old or work with an adult. The volunteer program has been approved as a service learning opportunity for Las Virgenes Unified School District students.

Some of the volunteer jobs available are race setup and breakdown, race packet distribution and preparations for the Chumash Park Expo, an event planned for after the race.

Many volunteers are needed to work as monitors and tend water stations along the various race routes: two half marathons, 10K and 5K races, and fun runs.

The Dole Great Race of Agoura Hills is on Sat., March 22, but volunteers will be needed March 20 and 21 as well, Regan said.

This event was established in 1986 by parents who wanted to raise money for their children’s elementary schools and is produced by Endurance Events. To sign up, visit www.greatraceofagoura.com/ volunteer. For more information, email Regan at Jodi@greatraceofagoura.com.
