Oaks Christian High girls’ volleyball head coach George Hees was named the 2013 National Coach of the Year by the National Christian School Athletic Association.

Hees led the Lions to their second straight Tri- Valley League championship in the fall. The team went undefeated in league action.

Oaks Christian, which had a 27-6 overall record in 2012, advanced to the CIF-Southern Section Division 2AA quarterfinals, falling to La Cañada.

Hees has been the head coach the past seven seasons, and his teams have finished first or second every year in the Tri-Valley.

The Lions have made two semifinals appearances under Hees (2008 and 2010).

Hess played volleyball at Westlake High and Westmont College.
