Calabasas Chamber hosts recognition dinner

The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce recently hosted its first "I Love Calabasas" Awards and Recognition Dinner at the Calabasas Inn.

The event’s program included several award presentations, honored the 2001 board of directors and installed the 2002 board.

Awards were presented in recognition of community members who have performed outstanding community service.

The Bill Van Gieson Award went to Phyllis Power, director of the Leonis Adobe Museum, for her contributions of preserving the Leonis Museum and the Old Town area as educational and historical attractions.

The Public Servant Award was presented to Robin Parker, Calabasas City Clerk, who has served the community since 1993.

M. Fredric was named Entrepreneur of the Year for its community support and charitable contributions, and Secural Services Corp. was named Business of the Year for its commitment to the city, businesses and through various school programs.

Larry Negrin, the chamber president for 2001, presented the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce Chairman’s Award to Judi Uthus, Stephanie Warren, Toni Yamin and Barbara McDaniel for their community dedication through their chamber involvement.

Negrin was honored in turn for his service as the chamber’s chairman of the board, a position in which Lillianne Chaumont will succeed him.
