Ventura workforce report issued

The Ventura County Workforce Investment Board (WIB) recently published its first State of the Workforce report for the county. Compiled from existing data from a variety of government sources and private organizations, the report is a comprehensive analysis of the condition of the Ventura County workforce.

The report features facts, data and interpretation based on local research, on issues that affect the county’s economy and workforce, such as population, demographics, housing, transportation, childcare and education.

Findings of the report reveal that in Ventura County: the future workforce will be made up primarily of Latinos; job growth will be concentrated in high-skill occupations such as nursing, high-tech and bio-tech positions; and the need for accessible and affordable childcare and housing will continue to be an obstacle for workers and employers.

"The State of the Workforce Report will guide the WIB as we continue to develop services for local job seekers and employers," said Penny Boehm, chair of the WIB. "The findings are significant because they show us that we are making progress on many of our goals, while steering us in the right direction to meet the future needs of the community."
