The Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) officially closed the fire season on Dec. 13. The combination of recent precipitation and weather patterns indicates the potential for major fires has passed.
Although the fire danger has lessened considerably, VCFD has issued a reminder to residents that it's still possible to have wildfires during the winter. Ventura County residents are encouraged to continue following appropriate fire safety guidelines for the home and in the wilderness.
