University students get a lift

SERVICE WITH A SMILE—Pepperdine University has a new six-seat, battery-operated escort cart for students with crutches or walkers. University president Andrew K. Benton is chauffeuring two students on the vehicle’s inaugural trip on Oct. 28. The cart is powerful enough to handle the Pepperdine hills in Malibu while being a good alternative to gas power. The students just dial an extension for pickup wherever they are on campus.
