United Methodist to host holiday boutique on Sunday

An Alternative Christmas Gift Market with the theme, "Give the World A Gift," will be a special attraction at the holiday boutique the women’s ministries of the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village are sponsoring 9 a.m. to noon on Sun., Nov. 5.

In addition to featuring gifts, crafts and baked goods, shoppers may choose from five projects to honor friends and families with philanthropic gifts benefiting children, youth and adults.

Each $5 donation to the Childhood Immunization project of the United Methodist Committee on Relief will immunize one child in an underdeveloped country against measles, whooping cough and tetanus.

Donations from $1 for one chick to $10 for a share of a pig, goat or sheep will help the Heifer Project International send food-producing animals to farmers in this country and around the world. Recipients continue the gift-giving cycle by donating the animal’s first offspring to another needy family.

Church World Service has helped make life bearable for disaster refugees by furnishing a blanket for each $5 donation to its blanket program.

And gifts to Many Mansions will serve the needy in its Homework Literacy Program, Books For Children and Emergency Housing Fund.

Offerings to the church’s fifth project, Meals on Wheels, will supply shut-ins with a day’s hot and cold meal for each $6 donation.
