Understand the facts

I am compelled to respond to two letters published in The Acorn related to the wildlife crossing planned for the Liberty Canyon area, and another protecting our mountain lions and livestock.

First, understanding the project of building a wildlife bridge will become clearer by checking the website #SaveLACougars.org. You will learn that no taxpayer money or government funding will be utilized other than funds already designated specifically for wildlife and the responsibility of fundraisers for SaveLACougars.org is to solicit philanthropic foundations and private donations to provide the funds.

Second, mountain lions are an endangered species under the California Fish and Game Code Section 4800, et seq., as such, those who live in areas where these endangered species live have an obligation to learn to coexist; protect their livestock, and domestic animals, and not create an opportunity an attraction for our mountain lions; the failure to provide proper fencing, dogs or other available protection is negligent and an abuse of the animals that one owns.
