Parenting is both rewarding and challenging, especially as The Acorn so poignantly noted, there isn’t a primer.
However, Mr. Reid’s letter to the editor calling into question the reprinting of the title of the tome, “Sh*t My Dad Says,” missed the point.
I purchased this book upon publication in 2010. It is hilarious, irreverent, bawdy and entertaining. I suggest that Mr. Reid may find some humor not only in reading the book but in the role of being a parent.
If we can’t laugh at ourselves and others who choose to share the spotlight with us about some of our missteps or gaffes or outright mistakes, it makes our journey as a parent more arduous than necessary.
I am a single mother of four self-sufficient and independent milennials. While the road was bumpy at times, finances were tight at times, juggling the various roles as a single mother was daunting at times, at the end of the day, it was the most fulfilling and rewarding experience I could ever have imagined.
Most of it was filled with joy, laughter, love and successes. I think humor went a long way in helping me to create such a beautiful family.
