Triunfo YMCA to offer soccer for young children

The Triunfo YMCA, serving Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Oak Park, is introducing “Itty-Bitty” soccer league for boys and girls ages 3 to 4. Signups for players and coaches are underway. The season will run from mid-January through March and games will be played at Willow Elementary School, 29026 Laro Drive, Agoura Hills.

“Itty-Bitty soccer is a different kind of sports program,” said Chrissy Withers, childcare program director at Triunfo YMCA. “The emphasis is on fun, sportsmanship and respect for self and others, as well as on developing soccer and general motor skills. Competition is not a part of the program.”

Practices and games will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays and last for an hour.

“We’re looking for parents and others to help as volunteer coaches,” Withers said. “Each team will have two coaches, a head coach and an assistant coach. To be a coach, you need to enjoy working with kids and have an enthusiastic and positive attitude.”

Players will be given a shirt to be worn at each practice and game. The league will hold an end-of-season banquet to recognize all players. Each child will receive a trophy.
