Trail repairs lead to ill will

Your recent article “Path clear for Medea Creek trail repairs” mentions in passing that a layer of dirt 3- to 4-inches deep was placed on an unused practice field behind the school and that it had been watered and seeded for dust mitigation.

The fact is that for several days dump trucks deposited load after load of dirt, creating a 4- to 5-foot high football field-sized plateau that, as of Aug. 20, sits untouched, blowing dust into the homes of the nearby residents.

This dumping has raised the level of the “unused practice field” to the heights of the fences bordering the field, impacting our privacy. It has also created a potential drainage problem due to the height of the mound.

All of this was done with no notice to or discussion with local residents. The project’s scope was not published as part of the school board minutes, so there was no chance for any public comment.

The fact that taxpayers who funded this project were negatively impacted by it appears to not matter at all to our local school officials.
