Trail rehab day set for Circle X Ranch

The National Park Service will host National Trails Day from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., June 6 in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area on Yerba Buena Road.

Volunteers of all ages from many local communities will work together to rehabilitate trails at the Circle X Ranch east to Saddle Peak.

Participants should bring plenty of drinking water, lunch, sunscreen and insect repellent. Sturdy footwear, long pants, long-sleeved shirt, hat and gloves are recommended. Some refreshments will be available.

Tools will be provided. Volunteers may work for all or part of the day. Parental consent is required for workers under 18, and the work is not suitable for any child under 10. No experience is necessary.

The park service suggests volunteers form car pools. For more information, call the National Park Service visitor center, (805) 370-2301, or Mike Malone, volunteer manager, (805) 370-2317.
