Thousand Oaks Acorn celebrates fifth anniversary

The Thousand Oaks Acorn is celebrating its fifth anniversary.

Its first edition was published May 7, 1998.

In this half a decade, the newspaper’s staff has worked hard to fulfill the promise made by its owners on the front page of that first edition.

"Remember that hometown paper you grew up reading? It spilled over with news and concerns affecting your daily life. The Thousand Oaks Acorn is to be picked up in the morning rush for coffee, read in that favorite well-worn living room chair and perused in the evening for information of neighbors, businesses and leaders in this community.

"We are there for you, so feel free to call, write or fax us with any suggestions to help meet your needs.—Jim and Lisa Rule."

Over the course of the last five years, the Thousand Oaks Acorn has kept its promise.

The T.O. Acorn has given back to the community through charitable donations to organizations such as Hospice of the Conejo and Many Mansions. It kept voters informed by hosting a city council candidates’ forum. And it’s helped other worthy causes.

"We’re there for you, so feel free to call, write or fax us with any suggestions to help meet your needs," said John Phane, editor.

The entire staff of the Thousand Oaks Acorn and The Acorn Newpapers would like to thank our readers and advertisers for their support. The combined circulation for both newspapers is more than 69,000 with market penetration from Hidden Hills and Calabasas through Newbury Park and T.O.
