There’s still time to sign up the kids for summertime fun

Roxanne Diesel, local drama and manners instructor and owner of Creative Acting Theatre School (CATS), will offer a variety of camps for different interests this summer. All camps are in partnership with local recreation districts and range from half-day to full-day camps. Registration is currently underway for the camps.

"Camp Broadway Bound" drama camp for ages 7 to 12 will be presented from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for one week each in Camarillo, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Ventura. This year’s camp production will be "Snow White" to be presented to family and friends on the last day of camp at 7 p.m. The cost is $130 plus a $15 production fee paid to the instructor.

"Commercial and Film Bootcamp" will be presented from 9 a.m. to noon in Simi Valley and Ventura for one week each, and from 1 to 4 p.m. in Camarillo and Thousand Oaks. Camp costs are $60 to $75, plus a $15 lab fee paid to the instructor.

"Harry Potter Literacy and Wizardry Camp" for ages 8 to 12 will be presented from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mon. through Fri., Aug. 1 to 5 at the Cameron Center, 288 Greenmeadow Drive, Thousand Oaks. The cost is $150.

"Crime Scene Investigators Camp" will be presented from 9 a.m. to noon Mon. through Fri., Aug. 15 to 19 in Thousand Oaks. The cost is $100.

Diesel is an associate member of the American Camp Association and has been a camp director and instructor for more than 15 years. She is joined this year by Sarah Johnson, camp director, Jameel Jubran and Jenny Wong, assistant directors, and Cassie Johnson and Katie Deutz, counselors. Camp staff members are experienced in the fields related to the camps and are CPR certified. Some camps will feature special guest instructors.
