In the second article in our series on healing, we look at Bible stories that show how mind and spirit are integrated, that healing must come to both.

In Numbers 21:4-9, the Israelites were wandering in the desert and they grew impatient. God spent seraph serpents as punishment, and many died from the bites. Seraph is a type of snake; the name means “fiery,” possibly a reference to its poison.

The people repented, and Moses prayed for them. God told him to mount a bronze serpent on a pole....
