The Las Virgenes Educational Foundation, a private nonprofit organization, will wrap up it’s Budget Crisis Campaign in ten days. Just less than $1,000,000 has been raised to date through the Foundation’s efforts, the city of Calabasas and some other sources. Over 1500 donations have been received in eight weeks. "There has been a tremendous outpouring of concern and donations from parents, administrators, elected officials, teachers, companies, homeowners and concerned citizens. The entire community has had to come together in order to make this happen," stated Debbi Molnar the Foundation President. "Through this effort most of the key program and class size issues will be saved. However, the final list of saved programs will depend on how much is raised in these last days."

The LVUSD School Board will be approving a balanced budget at their meeting on June 17. The final approved budget, with all cuts, will be submitted ten days later.

The money coming in now will go to save additional counseling services, high school athletics, music and drama, elementary library services, elementary assistant principals, the remainder of 4-12 grade class size issues, as well as other key items to keep the LVUSD among the best in the state.
