Thanks for helping new middle school

A group of generous individuals and businesses recently gave of their time, creative talents and livelihood to present a benefit concert at The Canyon featuring local rock band Hoobastank. This fundraiser provided critical financial support to the new A.C. Stelle Middle School, enabling the district to purchase computers and supplies for the school’s grand opening this fall.

This event would not have been possible without:

•Howard and Monica Benson. Earlier this year, Howard produced Hoobastank’s soon-to-be-released CD. Knowing the band was from the area and comprised of Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD) alumni, it was Howard’s idea to approach them about performing a benefit concert for the new A.C. Stelle Middle School. Howard and Monica underwrote all of the band’s and The Canyon’s costs for this concert.

•Hoobastank. This band said yes immediately and simply wanted to know where and when to show up. They gave an inspired performance at The Canyon and hung around afterwards to meet and greet some of the future A.C. Stelle students who attended the concert.

•Judy Burris. Judy is an LVUSD parent who organized and promoted her very first concert event, resulting in a hugely successful fundraiser for A.C. Stelle.

•Lance Sterling. The owner of The Canyon, he provided us with a fantastic venue and a wonderful staff, proving themselves the perfect hosts for this homegrown event.
