Temple Beth Haverim celebrates Purim Shpeil





The second grade class of Temple Beth Haverim will present its annual Purim Shpeil at 6:30 p.m., Thurs., March 24.


The program explains the holiday of Purim. Immediately following, the Megillah, the story of Esther, will be read. Noisemakers called "groggers" will be given out and all are invited to wear a costume. "Hamantashen" will be served after the reading.


Temple Beth Haverim will present its annual Purim Carnival, at Red Oak Elementary School from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sun., March 30. Admission is free and open to the community. The school is located at 4857 Rockfield Street, Oak Park, two blocks east of Lindero Canyon.


The carnival features rides, games, prizes, rock climbing, kosher food, and arts and crafts. Entertainment includes "You Should Be Dancing," the Shir Haverim Children’s choir and the Temple Beth Haverim Student Klezmer Band under the direction of Cantor Kenny Ellis and music director Eileen Weiser.
