Temple Adat Elohim offers program for parents, grandparents





Temple Adat Elohim will offer a variety of programs in February designed for parents and grandparents at the Temple, 2420 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.


From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sun., Feb. 1 the "Celebrations! What To Teach Our Children" program will look at the Jewish holiday of Tu B’Shevat, nicknamed "the holiday of trees," a time for appreciating nature and the world around at large. Participants will do crafts projects and learn what values from this holiday they may pass along to their children and what holiday activities they can do with their kids.


From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sun., Feb. 22 the "Celebrations!" program will take a look at Purim, a holiday about celebration, fun, storytelling and dressing up in costume. The program will provide costume ideas in addition to activities mentioned in the Feb. 1 program.


Outreach fellow Lisa Bock will lead a discussion in the Temple’s Youth Lounge from 9 to 11 a.m. Sun., Feb. 8 on "Will My Grandchildren Be Jewish?" The program will provide advice on interfaith issues, grandparenting, and communication in the interfaith extended family. Participants will be invited to share their experiences.


The "Celebrations!" programs meet in Room 7. Registration for all events is required. Call Teri at (805) 497-7101. All three events are open to the public.
