Televised city proceedings are high drama

I was sorry to read the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the resignation of Calabasas Mayor Janice Lee, but not sorry to read that it was broadcast live on local cable.

In the same week, the Thousand Oaks City Planning Commission met regarding improving their wireless communications services. It, too, was broadcast live on local cable. I happened to be channel surfing that evening when for some reason I decided to tune in to Channel 10.

This was the most riveting TV I have seen in months, far better than Wednesday’s network TV fare—news magazines, even "Law & Order." This was reality TV at its best! High drama played out just below the surface. You could just fee the fisticuffs forming under the dais. If this was on Channel 11, it might have turned into "The Jerry Springer Show"!

So, tune in to your local cable channel every now and then. Not only might you learn what measures are being proposed and debated in your community, you might just end up watching some rock ’em, sock ’em TV!
