SMASHED WINDSHIELD—Agoura Hills resident Pejman Jadidi and his children examine the damage to their Corvette caused by vandals on Sept. 30. Two teens were apprehended.

Like many local residents, Joy and Pejman Jadidi didn’t think they would ever be the targets of crime.

But that perception changed in the early morning hours of Sept. 30 when two sheriff’s deputies came to the couple’s door to inform them that their gray Corvette parked on Rainbow Hill Road in Agoura Hills had been vandalized.

Pejman Jadidi, a Ventura businessman, said he was “shocked.”

“The guys went on my hood, stood up and started banging on the windshield. They didn’t seem to have any fear of being caught,” Jadidi said.

The culprits also smashed one of the Corvette’s rearview mirrors.

“It’s very upsetting,” said Joy Jadidi, who was asleep when the incident occurred.

As of Tuesday, two Oak Park teenagers confessed to the crime.

According to Sgt. Derek Alfred of the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station, deputies on patrol had encountered three suspects earlier in the evening during a traffic stop at the north end of Reyes Adobe Road.

“The persons acted suspiciously and nervous,” Alfred said.

No one was detained at the time, but the encounter prompted the deputies to drive through the Peacock Ridge neighborhood to check for additional vandalism.

In addition to the Corvette with a smashed windshield, the deputies saw two other cars that had been vandalized.

The deputies then drove back to the homes of the young people whom they had stopped earlier and asked further questions. Two youths admitted to vandalizing the Corvette, Alfred said.

Authorities still plan to interview the third suspect, who is 18 and also from Oak Park.

Pejman Jadidi praised the Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies for their vigilance.

“I’m glad (the vandals) were caught,” he said.
