Take a hike to Switzer Falls




The Rancho Simi Trail Blazers, an all-volunteer group based in Simi Valley and Oak Park, will sponsor an 8-mile round-trip hike at Switzer Falls and Bear Canyon Trail Camp at 8 a.m. Sat., June 14.

A moderate hike with a 1,000- foot elevation gain/loss, participants will take the shady trail from the Switzer picnic area parking lot to the Arroyo Seco and then ascend. Hikers will visit Switzer Falls and then move to the Bear Canyon fork, following Bear Canyon Creek upstream to the Trail Camp.

Hikers should wear boots, appropriate clothing in layers, a hat and sunscreen. Bring sunglasses as well as two to three quarts of water and a lunch or snack.

To park at the trailhead, a U.S. Forest Service Adventure Pass or Senior Pass must be displayed in the vehicle’s windshield.

Hikers will meet at 8 a.m. at the Park and Ride at the 118 and Stearns Street, Simi Valley. The hiking leader will distribute driving directions.
