Synagogue to hold services in Porter Ranch

JEWISH NEW YEAR—Valley Outreach Synagogue, based in Calabasas, will hold High Holy Days services at The Shepherd Church on Rinaldi Street in Porter Ranch. Rosh Hashanah begins at sunset Wed., Sept. 20. Yom Kipper will be observed starting sundown Fri., Sept. 29.

Valley Outreach Synagogue will hold High Holy Days services in Porter Ranch in the sanctuary of The Shepherd Church, formally known as Shepherd of the Hills Church.

The congregation’s spiritual leaders, Rabbi Ron Li-Paz and Chaplain Jennifer Eaves Nye, will lead the services, with music from music director Jack Bielan, the VOS Adult Choir, Young Adult Vocal Ensemble and an ensemble of musicians.

Residents of retirement communities, college students and active duty service members who are Jewish or in dual religious families may attend services as guests of VOS. They can contact the synagogue office and ask for tickets that will be available at the Will Call Desk in the lobby until the start of each service.

The church sanctuary is unable to accommodate wheelchairs or non-ambulatory people with assistive devices.

Following is the schedule of High Holy Days services at The Shepherd Church, 19700 Rinaldi St., Porter Ranch.

Erev Rosh Hashanah at 7:30 p.m. Wed., Sept. 20.

Rosh Hashanah at 10 a.m. Thurs., Sept. 21.

Erev Yom Kippur (Kol Nidre) at 7:30 p.m. Fri., Sept. 29.

Yom Kippur at 10 a.m. Sat., Sept. 30.

Yom Kippur afternoon and Yizkor services will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the new VOS synagogue at 26668 Agoura Road, Calabasas.

A 12-step gratitude meeting and grief group will precede the service at 2:30 p.m. at the synagogue.
