Swell to be Swedish in Agoura





The Swedish American Central Association of Southern California is sponsoring its 86th annual Midsummer Festival, the most important Swedish summer holiday celebration, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sun., June 25 at Vasa Park, 2854 Triunfo Canyon Road, Agoura.

Breakfast will be available from 9 to 11 a.m., with hamburgers and hot dogs served from 11 a.m. onward.

The midsummer maypole will be raised at noon, followed by traditional ring dancing and singing to the strains of Swedish folk music.

Additional activities include children’s races and games at 12:30 p.m., plus an opportunity drawing as well as gate prizes.

The Parade of the Royal Court is at 2 p.m. There will be a special presentation by the Vasa Junior Folk Dance Group and the Swedish Folk Dance Club of Los Angeles.

The park’s swimming pool and water slide will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Vasa Park is 3 miles south of the Kanan Road exit off the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills, reached by turning right off Kanan and traveling about a half-mile. The park entrance is on the right, adjacent to Mike Edrick Stables.

Admission is $5, with children under 12 admitted free. No dogs or barbecue braziers are permitted in the park.
