Summer comes alive with free concerts

A popular pastime on warm summer evenings is grabbing a picnic and enjoying a free outdoor concert in the park with friends and family.

The Agoura Hills Concerts in the Park series will resume on June 16 with all shows starting at 6 p.m. at Chumash Park, 5550 Medea Valley Drive, Agoura Hills.

All concerts are free; donations will be taken at intermission.

The schedule is:

June 16: Surfin’ Safari. An evening of surf hits made popular by the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean.

July 7: Knight Fever and fireworks. A 70s disco show choreographed with all the right moves and music from K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Bee Gees, Village People, Earth Wind and Fire and other funky music. Fireworks will follow the show.

July 21: Face to Face: Tribute to Billy Joel and Elton John. Each artist performs a solo set followed by a face-to-face set on two pianos with the trade-off of lyrics along with comedy, singalongs and spontaneous humor.

Aug. 4: Rumours: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac. Re-creation of the popular band that produced some of the era’s most memorable pop/dance tunes.

Co-sponsor of the 2013 season is the Acorn Newspapers.

Children can play on a giant slide and enjoy activities at Kidzone while parents listen to the music. A variety of food trucks will have complete picnics-to-go or snacks and desserts, beginning an hour before the show.

Free street parking is available. Guests can bring lawn seating and picnic. Pets and alcohol are not permitted.
