Summer arts festival celebrated at Moorpark College





Moorpark College will present its fifth annual Summer Arts Festival, a weekend performance series, from June 15 to August 10 in the college’s Performing Arts Center, on the campus at 7075 Campus Road, Moorpark.


The festival kicks off at 3 and 7:30 p.m. on Sat., June 15 with a musical review titled "Broadway Dreams" featuring songs and dances from popular Broadway shows.


Theatrical presentations include "Closer," described as a "cutting contemporary picture of sexual desire and emotional failure," performed at 7:30 p.m. from July 23 to 25 and at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. on July 27.


Lanford Wilson’s "The Rimers of Eldritch," involving a man’s murder that brings to light the "darkly secret life" of a small Midwestern town, will play at 7:30 p.m. on July 31, August 1, 3, 5 to 8 and at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 3.


James J. Song will direct an Orchestral "Pops" Concert at 8 p.m. on Sat., July 27 featuring a presentation of light "Pops" music to a variety of favorite scores.


At 6 p.m. on Aug. 10, "Dancing Under the Stars" will be presented on the outdoor stage on the Campus Center Quad featuring performances of modern, ballroom and production dance numbers .
