Calabasas residents will soon notice a change at their favorite local eatery—no more plastics. The city’s ban on plastic straws, stirs and utensils takes effect April 30.
Approved by the City Council last fall, the ordinance requires restaurants to offer biodegradable alternatives to plastic, such as products made with bamboo, paper or sugar cane.
The new law is a follow-up to the city’s 2011 ordinance that banned plastic bags and polystyrene containers.
