Brookside third-grade teacher Linda Glander, a member of the Oak Park District Wellness Committee and advisor to the Brookside Wellness Council, has launched a school service project to benefit CHARITY:WATER, an organization dedicated to providing safe, clean drinking water to people all over the world.

Organized by Glander two years ago, the Brookside Wellness Council is composed of a group of students who are now in the fourth grade. The group is involved in projects that promote awareness of the importance of good nutrition.

Glander and the students collected empty water bottles, which will later be recycled, labeled them with the name of each classroom teacher and cut a hole large enough to receive coins into the top of each bottle. The bottles were distributed to the classrooms on Thurs., May 1.

More than $500 had been collected midway through the projectwhich concluded on Fri., May 30All proceeds will be sent to CHARITY:WATER.
