Students question school district’s service requirement

Certain types of volunteer service are no longer accepted for graduation hours

Some students say they are upset with changes to the service learning policy in Las Virgenes Unified School District.
Students must complete 15 hours of service learning each year in high school, with 60 hours of service finished by senior year. But the school board has tightened its policy and will not allow certain volunteer activity by the students at Agoura and Calabasas high schools to count toward the graduation requirement.
