Student receives $40,000 UC Berkeley scholarship




 

 

Calabasas High School graduate Emily Harari was awarded a $40,000 scholarship from the National Student Leadership Conference to attend UC Berkeley this fall.

Applicants for the NSLC Alumni College Scholarship are evaluated on academic excellence, demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities, submitted essays and letters of recommendation. The recipients were chosen by the National Student Leadership Foundation’s Scholarship Board.

To be eligible for this award, applicants must attend the National Student Leadership Conference before their senior year of high school. Emily attended the NSLC on biotechnology in the summer of 2014.

In this program, NSLC students meet with U.S. senators, representatives, governors, ambassadors and leaders in the fields of medicine, business, engineering, diplomacy, law, politics, journalism and the arts.

Emily graduated from CHS with the following honors: valedictorian, AP Scholar with honor, seven semesters honor roll, Golden State Seal Merit Diploma, President’s Education Award California Scholarship Federation Highest Honor, State Seal of Biliteracy and National Honor Society.

Emily is also the recipient of the UC Berkeley Leadership Award.
