Student interns for Machon Kaplan

This summer Jennifer Aaronson participated in the Machon Kaplan program at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism in Washington, D.C.

Machon Kaplan is a summer study-internship program that exposes students to social justice issues from both academic and practical viewpoints. Program participants intern at an advocacy and public policy organization to see firsthand how policy is crafted and use their energy to bring about social change.

Aaronson interned at Americans for Peace Now, where she worked with policy experts such as Lara Friedman, director of policy and government relations, and the American Task Force on Palestine.

Aaronson is an Agoura Hills resident and a junior studying politics at UC Santa Cruz. She plans to apply what she’s learned this summer at Americans for Peace Now to engage other students on her campus.

In addition to the internships, students take academic courses that teach the application of Jewish values to social justice issues.
