Street fair

The annual Simi Valley Street Fair returns Saturday, with nearly 400 vendors setting up tents at its new location, the Simi Valley Town Center.

The fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 12 at the mall, between Erringer Road and First Street. This marks the fair’s first change of venue in 14 years.

Hosted by the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce, insufficient parking spurred the search for a new location.

The fair will feature local talent and entertainment, an emergency expo with demonstrations by police and other first responders, a car show, arts and crafts vendors, an expanded beer and wine garden and a kids’ fun zone.

New this year is a scavenger hunt that encourages visitors to connect with local businesses. Prizes include a $50 gas card and a $100 Costco card.

Those who visit the Chamber’s booth will be entered to win a cruise for two to Mexico.

“The Simi Valley Street Fair . . . provides great exposure for businesses, while affording them the opportunity to showcase their products and services to an expected crowd of 20,000 attendees,” event chair Mike Hoffman said in a statement provided to the Acorn.
