Stop the speeding

Unfortunately, as an 18-year resident of a home on Lake Lindero Drive, I can attest to the speeding that takes place on a daily basis. I have also called the city, the police and even The Acorn to report this situation on numerous occasions to no avail. Does someone have to get killed to get some attention?

With the warm weather this week, my windows are open to the sound of speeding cars all day. I can barely pull out of the driveway without a car coming full speed between “ bumps” around the bend.

If you’re an offender, you may recognize me as the crazy lady who yells and waves as you speed by. My kids survived growing up on this street, but now my grandkids play here regularly. I ask those speeders to consider the golden rule if nothing else.

Would you like your street victimized in this way, or is this an example of NIMBY? Most of you who are guilty live pretty close by, or you wouldn’t be using Lake Lindero as a route.

Our city officials have been warned of the potential danger again and again. Just because no serious injuries have occurred doesn’t offset responsibility. Here’s hoping this strikes a note with someone in a capacity to act in the best interest of public safety.

There are many sensible, affordable solutions that can easily be applied and enforced to make our street safer for everyone.
