Counties’ high COVID numbers to blame


Scores of Ventura County hair and nail salons scrambled to close again Tuesday, a day after Gov. Gavin Newsom said a rising number of COVID cases and hospitalizations called for a “toggling back” of the state’s reopening.
Ventura and Los Angeles counties are two of about 30 counties on a statewide watchlist for failing to meet a host of COVID benchmarks set by the governor’s office.
