The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley will host its 15th annual Superstars of the Year Celebration from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Sun., March 18 at the Agoura High School performing arts education center, 28545 W. Driver Ave.
A VIP reception is scheduled from 2 to 2:30 p.m.
The annual celebration, which is open to the community and all ages, recognizes local youth and volunteers who have made a contribution to the B&GC.
In addition to presentation of the annual Youth of the Year awards, there will be a performing arts showcase by club members and special guest Dalton Cyr, an award-winning singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist actor.
Youth of the Year winners will be selected from two age categories: 14 to 18 and 13 and younger. Winners will be recognized with a cash prize and certificates from local businesses.
Youth in the older age category can participate in area coastal, state and regional competitions with an opportunity to win up to $100,000 in scholarships.
The celebration event will also have opportunity drawings with merchandise donated by the community.
Cyr, who is working on his fourth album with producer Mikal Blue, conceived the award-winning “Breathe” film, as well as co-writing, co-directing, acting and scoring the music for the movie, which tells a story across three songs.
As an actor, Cyr was on FreeForm’s show “Pretty Little Liars;” starred as Judd in Amazon Studio’s music-driven sitcom “A History of Radness;” as Holden in the movie “Time Toys;” and will be filming a feature in April playing the role of Rudolph Valentino.
He is a national ambassador for the Dream Factory, an organization that grants dreams to chronically ill children.
Admission is $5. Due to the popularity of the event, those who are interested in attending are asked to purchase tickets in advance.
