Special ed teachers to
be honored


The Ventura County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Community Advisory Committee has announced selection of its inaugural "Golden Bell Awards" winners.


The winners were selected based on their dedication, skill and creativity in working with students with special needs. Presentation of the awards will be made at each of the winner’s local school board meetings.


Among the winners were Susan Wheeler, a general education teacher with the Conejo Valley Unified School District, who will be recognized at 6 p.m. Tues., June 10 in the CVUSD boardroom, 1400 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks; and Barbara Semel-Parkhurst, an inclusion specialist with the Oak Park Unified School District, who will be honored at 7 p.m. Tues., June 17 in Room G-9 at Oak Park High School, 899 N. Kanan Road, Oak Park.


The public is encouraged to attend "to show their appreciation for the efforts of these outstanding educators," said Charles Weis, Ph.D., Ventura County Superintendent of Schools.
