In early August, a citizen turned in a trio of tiny northern mockingbirds to the Pasadena Humane Society, and a volunteer brought them to the California Wildlife Center in Calabasas.
Upon intake, the three tiny birds weighed between 16 and 35 grams each, or between a half-ounce and 1¼ ounces. The young birds went into an incubator in our baby care unit, which every year raises thousands of baby birds and mammals that have been found injured or orphaned.
